Welcome to the Bluegrass Latino Student Union!
The Latino Student Union (LSU) at BCTC is a student-led organization dedicated to empowering Latino students to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals while building a strong, inclusive community on campus. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging where students can celebrate their culture, access resources, and connect with one another.
What We Do
LSU was established to serve the needs of Latino students and ensure they have the support necessary to thrive academically and personally. Here are our main goals:
- Academic Support: From tutoring sessions to study groups, we provide academic resources to help students in their coursework and stay on track for graduation or transfer.
- Connection to Opportunities: We guide students to scholarship opportunities, internships, and volunteer experiences that enhance professional development and personal growth.
- Cultural Celebration: LSU is a space where we honor our roots. Through cultural events, social activities, and community outreach, we proudly celebrate Latino traditions and experiences.
- Student Voice & Leadership: As a student-driven organization, we value the ideas and passions of our members. Every event, meeting, and initiative is designed to reflect the needs and interests of our community.
Why LSU Matters
Navigating college can be challenging, and we understand that Latino students often face unique obstacles. Nearly half of Latino students who start college don’t finish—but we’re here to change that. By creating a supportive environment that addresses both academic and cultural needs, we help students feel empowered, and stay motivated.
We believe that every Latino student deserves a space where they feel heard, connected, and inspired. LSU is that space.
